Holiday restrictions for each department rather than the company as a whole
Can it be set up on the system so that i can limit the number of people by department on holiday at the same time.
so for example if someone in X department is already away then someone else who books those days in that department will be warned of a clash?

This is done! You can now update your max number of staff off both by company and individual department. This new setting is in company settings.
